There are many people among us who are not able to hear sounds. They communicate among themselves in sign language but they need to have paper and pencil at hand any time they want to ‘talk’ to a hearer. The Speech Tablet facilitates communication between the hearers and the hearing impaired persons. On the touch sensitive screen of the tablet one can write or draw, and the same image is depicted on the screen of the communication partner. The Speech Tablet has an advantage before plain writing pad: communications partners can see each other’s messages from a distance and simultaneously. It is also possible to record conversations. The ability to hear or not becomes irrelevant; the importance of sharing thoughts becomes first.
